About the Founder

My name is Wayne Wiebe — a Canadian veteran, historian, and long‑time community builder with deep roots in Guelph. After serving a number of years in the Canadian military, I carried forward a lifelong commitment to preserving history, strengthening communities, and supporting the people who shaped them.

I am the founder and owner of CornwallisMuseum.com, Canada’s largest digital military tribute to HMCS/CFB Cornwallis — a project dedicated to honouring the service, stories, and legacy of generations of Canadian recruits. I also created HistoricGuelph.ca and HistoricGoderich.ca, two growing digital archives dedicated to preserving and sharing the local history that shaped the communities I’ve called home.

After retirement, I served as Vice President of a cooperative housing community in Guelph, gaining firsthand experience in governance, member relations, and the cooperative model that now forms the foundation of Silver Meadows.

As a senior myself, I understand the challenges many older adults face — rising housing costs, limited options, and the need for safe, supportive, community‑driven living. Silver Meadows Cooperative is the next chapter in my work: a vision to build a modern, affordable senior community where people can live with dignity, independence, and real neighbour‑to‑neighbour connection.

This is my mission, my passion, and the work I’m committed to bringing to life for our region.
